MTN Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship 2026

Established in 2010, the MTN Foundation Scholarship Programme is an annual initiative that recognizes and rewards outstanding students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions across three categories.

The MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship (MTN STS), introduced in 2010, is specifically targeted at eligible 300-level students pursuing science and technology-related courses in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. For the 2026 edition, 400 students will be awarded scholarships valued at ₦300,000 each, renewable annually until graduation, subject to maintaining required academic performance and meeting upskilling criteria.

The MTN Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship provides financial support of ₦300,000 annually, renewable until graduation, subject to maintaining the required academic performance.

Eligibility Requirements

A. Institution of Study

• MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS): Open to students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions, including universities, teaching hospitals, polytechnics, and colleges of education
• MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS): Available to blind students studying in Nigerian public universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education

B. Course of Study

• STS: Open to 300-level students in science and technology-related disciplines, as well as 400-level medical students
• SBS: Open to 200- and 300-level blind students studying any course

C. Level of Study

• STS:
  • Students who have completed their second semester in 200 level and are progressing to 300 level, as well as those already in 300 level, are eligible
  • Medical students who have completed 300 level and are advancing to 400 level, or are currently in 400 level, may also apply
• SBS:
  • Open to 200- and 300-level blind students in all public tertiary institutions
  • For Law students (a 5-year programme), only those in 300 level are eligible

D. Academic Requirements (CGPA)

• STS:
  • University and College of Education students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (Second Class Upper)
  • Polytechnic students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (Upper Credit) at OND level and must have gained admission into HND
  • Direct Entry students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (Upper Credit) from OND and be admitted into 300 level in a public university
  • Medical students must have at least a pass grade or its equivalent
• SBS:
  • University and College of Education students must have a minimum CGPA of 2.5
  • Polytechnic students must have a minimum CGPA of 2.0 at OND level and must have secured admission into HND

This structure ensures that the scholarship supports academically strong students while promoting inclusivity across different educational pathways.
