COEASU calls for Implementation Committee
Adeyemi College of Education (ACEONDO) which was recently upgraded from its present status to Adeyemi University of Education has been called out by the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, COEASU for the constitution of the Implementation Committee.
The Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, COEASU, in a letter by its General Secretary, Dr. Ahmed Bazza Lawan has applauded the Minister Hon. Adamu Adamu for using his good offices to champion a good cause for the Teachers in the Education sector. Dr. Ahmed also appreciated the academic staff of the institution whose quality service delivery and competence manifested to such upgrade and assured the government of the commitment of its members to work hard to sustain and improve on the legacies of the institution.
COEASU in the letter said: “we are pleased to receive the news of the upgrade of the Adeyemi College of Education by the Federal Government. This decision goes a long way to confirm that most Colleges of Education in Nigeria are qualified for upgrade to degree-awarding institutes.” The union also opined that the quality of scholarship, infrastructural development and prudent management of resources displayed over the years by the academic staff has led to the college attaining her new status and hopes that the academic staff will not be short-changed in the process of implementing this laudable upgrade.
However this conversions by the state Governments has somehow left a sour tastes in the mouths of the existing staff members, it has resulted in the frustration and untimely death of staff members who were whimsically downgraded and new staff drawn from the universities were imposed on them. But to forestall such a development, COEASU appealed to the Minister of Education to empanel a “Transition Committee that comprises of critical thinking stakeholders who would work out an implementation plan so that existing members will not be short-changed.”
