History of Interim Joint Matriculation Board(IJMB)
The Interim Joint Matriculation Board was established in 1976 by the interim Common Services Agency (ICSA). ICSA was established by the government of the old Northern Agency of Nigeria to provide educational and social services to the people of the region.
The first IJMBE (Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination) was held in 1977 for all students who had undergone the IJMB Basic/Preliminary studies which had replaced HSC. The IJMB is essentially an advanced level examination except for only two subjects (English Language and Mathematics) offered at ordinary level.
The Board is administered by the Institute of Education of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. Other members of the board include representative of Joint Admission Matriculation Board and some of the Universities that accept IJMB results for admission into the 200 level.
IJMB is an approved nine (9) months Advanced level program by the Federal Government of Nigeria and certified by the Nigeria University Commission (NUC). The program is available for all courses in the Arts, Social science and Science and it gives direct admission to successful candidates to 200 level of the University education.
Our lecturers are people who themselves have gone through the Advanced Level program and as such are well equipped to teach the IJMB and JUPEB students. We also motivate them so as to teach the students in such a way as to guarantee their success in the final examination and be highly competitive to gain admission into the 200 level in the University of their choice. Our centre building and students accommodation are well secured and in a conducive environment.
