AAU ASUU quash salary payment claim
The Ambrose Alli University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has debunked claims that it’s members have been paid the eight months’ salaries arrears withheld by the government for the 2022 national industrial action embarked on by the union.
The Chairman and acting Secretary of the union, Dr. Cyril Onogbosele and Dr. William Odion, in a statement issued on March 7, said the alleged payment of all outstanding salaries to its members in the university was not true, but rather, the university management was doing selective payment to some people.
The union described the selective payment as ‘wicked’ and condemned the school management for spreading worry and sorrow among staff members. It went on to explain that over 50 percent of its members and some non-teaching staff have been deliberately denied payment of salaries for categories of months (January – December 2022 and January 2023), for no just reason.
The statement further added that the selective payment of salaries was designed by the administration to punish some staff perceived as being their “enemies”.
