Airtel Africa Fellowship Program for Nigerian Students 2025
The Airtel Africa Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Airtel Africa plc—a leading telecommunications and mobile money service provider operating in 14 African countries—focuses on advancing financial inclusion, education, environmental sustainability, and digital access across the continent.
In line with this mission, the Foundation introduced the “Airtel Africa Tech Fellowship”, a program designed to support talented young Africans from disadvantaged backgrounds in pursuing higher education in STEM fields. This initiative is part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to increasing the number of African youth equipped with advanced technology skills and nurturing the continent’s future tech leaders.
Through this fellowship, the Foundation collaborates with selected universities to provide support to outstanding African students who secure admission into approved tech-related undergraduate programs.
The program will be available to students enrolled in the following seven public universities in Nigeria:
- University of Lagos (UNILAG)
- University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN)
- Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU)
- University of Benin (UNIBEN)
- Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)
- University of Ilorin (UNILORIN)
- Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED)

Fellowship Coverage
The fellowship offers comprehensive academic support, covering tuition fees, study materials, accommodation assistance, and a modest living stipend. Specific disbursement details will be provided directly to successful candidates. The fellowship spans the entire duration of eligible undergraduate programs in Technology, Science, and Engineering, typically lasting 4 to 5 years.
Requirements for the Airtel Africa Fellowship Program for Nigerian Students
To qualify for the Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- The Fellowship is open only to students admitted into any of the seven participating public universities.
- Gender diversity will be taken into consideration during the selection process.
- Applicants must not be beneficiaries of any other fellowship, scholarship, or grant serving the same purpose as this program.
- Only newly admitted students (100-level entrants) are eligible to apply.
- Candidates must demonstrate genuine financial need.
- A minimum JAMB score of 230 is required.
- Applicants must have at least five credits, including English and Mathematics, obtained in a single sitting.
- To be shortlisted, candidates must present their JAMB results, admission letter, school identification card, and WAEC certificate/result.
Eligible Courses
Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Computer Technology, Data Science, Software Engineering, Library and Information Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Telecommunication Engineering, and other technology or ICT-related disciplines.

- A recent passport-sized photograph in JPEG format (maximum size: 200 KB)
- University Admission Letter
- Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Result
- O’ Level Result(s)
- ‘A’ Level / OND / NCE Result(s), as applicable
