Ajayi Crowther University Earns Full NUC Accreditation for Nursing, Law, and 8 Other Programmes
Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, has reached another academic milestone — earning full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for its Nursing programme and eight additional academic courses across five faculties.
This development was confirmed following an NUC accreditation visit to the university in October and November 2024. The exercise, in line with Section 10(1) of the Education Act CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, allows NUC to assess and accredit academic programmes based on national minimum academic standards.
In a letter signed by the Acting Director of Accreditation, Mr. Abraham Chundusu, on behalf of NUC’s Executive Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, the commission approved full accreditation for the following courses:
✅ Nursing
✅ Environmental Health Science
✅ Christian Religious Studies
✅ History and International Studies
✅ Music
✅ Performing Arts
✅ Law
✅ Mathematics
✅ Statistics
In addition, the university’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme also received full accreditation — a significant boost to ACU’s postgraduate offerings.
Reacting to the achievement, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Timothy Adebayo expressed appreciation to the NUC for its commitment to upholding quality education across Nigerian universities.
“This outcome reflects our commitment to academic excellence and integrity. On behalf of the University Senate and the Governing Council, I thank NUC for its transparent accreditation process,” Prof. Adebayo said.
He also commended the efforts of staff and students in maintaining high academic standards, noting that the new accreditations would enhance the university’s reputation as a center for world-class education and research.
