Anambra State Govt close down school due to exam malpractice
The Anambra state government has closed down the Tower Primary School located in the Oba area of the state, over alleged involvement in examination malpractices during the 2023 Transition Placement Examination.
The government made this known in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education, Nnaemeka Egwuonwu. According to the statement, the school was shut down after it investigated a case of exam misconduct reported against a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) teacher, Precious Chibuzo, who invigilated the exam at the Umuogali Community Primary School, Oba.
The ministry commenced the investigation after pupils of Triumphant Cross School Oba, revealed that the Proprietress of the Tower Academy Oba, Kosisochukwu Igwe connived with students in the misconduct by sneaking into the examination hall and taking a photograph of the exam question paper, which was solved, and the answers supplied to the candidates.
Kosisochukwu who admitted committing the offense, pleaded for forgiveness, while the PTA teacher, Chibuzo Precious, who had earlier admitted committing the offense has been dismissed from the School.
The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has directed a resit of the examination for all the candidates involved in the center which will be supervised by the Commissioner.
