He proceeded to Command Secondary School in Ipaja, Lagos, and later to Ibru College in Agbarha-Otor, Delta State, for his secondary education. He gained admission to Bendel State University, now known as Ambrose Alli University, in Ekpoma, Edo State. There, he pursued a bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies and Philosophy, graduating in 1990.

Initially, Ali Baba intended to study law, influenced by his father’s aspirations for him. However, during his time at the university, he discovered his talent for comedy. This newfound passion led him to abandon his plans for a legal career and focus on comedy instead.

Ali Baba’s decision to pursue comedy was met with resistance from his father, who had envisioned a different path for him. This led to a decade-long estrangement between father and son, from 1988 to 1998. Despite these challenges, Ali Baba remained steadfast in his pursuit of comedy, eventually becoming a trailblazer in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
