Education profile of Ghanaian President

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was born on 29 March 1944 in Swalaba, a suburb of Accra. He is a politician and a lawyer.

He began his primary education at the Government Boys School and Rowe Road School (now Kinbu) in Accra. He then attended Holmewood House Preparatory School in the UK, followed by Lancing College in Sussex for his O-Level and A-Level examinations. In 1962, Akufo-Addo enrolled in the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics program at New College, Oxford, but left shortly thereafter.

Returning to Ghana, he taught at Accra Academy before pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Economics at the University of Ghana, Legon, graduating in 1967. Subsequently, he studied law in the UK and was called to the English Bar (Middle Temple) in July 1971, and to the Ghana Bar in July 1975.
