EKSU Secures Full NUC Accreditation for 18 Academic Programmes

Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, is celebrating a major academic milestone. Following a thorough evaluation exercise by the National Universities Commission (NUC) between October and November 2024, the university has been granted full accreditation for 18 academic programmes.

The news was formally communicated through a letter dated 30 April 2025, signed by Engineer Abraham Chundusu, the Acting Director of Accreditation, on behalf of the NUC Executive Secretary. The letter was addressed to EKSU’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, who described the development as “a dream come true.”

The newly accredited courses cut across several faculties, further strengthening EKSU’s position as a comprehensive institution. The accredited programmes include:

This achievement is a result of the collective efforts of both academic and non-academic staff who have worked tirelessly to improve teaching, learning, and administrative systems over the years. Prof. Ayodele praised the dedication of the university community, noting that the accreditation is not just a formality but a validation of the university’s commitment to excellence.

He further emphasized that the university is now in a stronger position to meet the local and global demands for quality education — especially in high-demand fields.

This development comes on the heels of another significant recognition: According to the 2025 Times Higher Education rankings, EKSU is now ranked as the best-performing state university in Nigeria — a reflection of its steady progress and growing academic reputation.

Prof. Ayodele also extended heartfelt appreciation to key stakeholders whose support has helped bring this vision to life. These include the Governor of Ekiti State and University Visitor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (an EKSU alumnus himself), the University Chancellor, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, and the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Akin Oyebode.

Their leadership, he noted, continues to shape the institution’s global outlook and long-term development goals.

With this renewed confidence from the NUC, Ekiti State University is poised for even greater heights. Staff and students alike are expected to draw inspiration from this success as the institution continues its journey toward becoming a world-class university.
