Encourage Science Initiative is excited to announce the 2025 Research Grant designed to support STEM undergraduate research across Nigerian universities. This initiative aims to empower young scholars, foster innovation, and strengthen research capacity at the undergraduate level.

Eligibility Criteria for the Encourage Science Initiative (ESI) Research Grant

To be eligible, applicants must be final-year undergraduate students currently enrolled in a recognized Nigerian university, pursuing a degree in the biological or physical sciences, with research projects that have either already begun or are scheduled to commence between September 2025 and February 2026.

Documentation Needed for Application

Applicants are required to submit a personal statement of no more than 200 words outlining their motivation and intended use of the grant (up to ₦100,000), along with a supervisor’s supporting statement of up to 200 words endorsing the project and confirming the applicant’s readiness to undertake it.

Grant Allocation and Purpose

Successful applicants will be awarded research funding of up to ₦100,000, with a maximum of ₦50,000 specifically allocated for the purchase of consumables and other essential materials required during the course of their project. This financial support is aimed at reducing the financial challenges often associated with final-year research, ensuring that students can focus on the quality and depth of their work. By easing the burden of procuring necessary resources, the grant seeks to empower students to produce rigorous, impactful, and high-quality scientific outcomes that contribute meaningfully to their field of study.

Approved Fields of Study
