Federal Government Tax Reform Challenge for Young Nigerians 2025
The Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee proudly announces the Students Tax Reform Challenge a nationwide competition designed to empower young Nigerians to demonstrate their knowledge, creativity, and innovative thinking around Nigeria’s evolving tax reform landscape.
Objective:
The challenge aims to:
- Increase awareness and understanding of tax reforms while promoting tax education among young Nigerians.
- Encourage informed and balanced discussions on Nigeria’s tax system through fact-based analysis.
- Build a network of knowledgeable youth ambassadors who can foster meaningful public engagement on fiscal matters.
- Highlight tax reform as a vital tool for strengthening the social contract, promoting civic responsibility among citizens and accountability within government institutions.

Awards & Prizes:
- 1st Prize: ₦5,000,000
- 2nd Prize: ₦3,000,000
- 3rd Prize: ₦2,000,000
In addition, top 10 finalists from each geopolitical zone will receive consolation prizes, including:
- Cutting-edge tech gadgets
- Internship or employment opportunities
- Training scholarships
- Tax Reform Youth Ambassador recognition and honours
All finalists are guaranteed at least one of the following: a tech gadget, internship or job offer, training scholarship, or branded materials.
Support for Students Associations:
Each finalist’s tax, economics, accounting, or journalism club/association will receive a ₦2,000,000 recognition grant to host a tax education event within their institution.
Ambassadorship:
All finalists will be officially named “Tax Reform Youth Ambassadors,” gaining exclusive access to participate in national events and policy dialogues.
Eligibility Criteria
The challenge is open to:
- Undergraduate students across all Nigerian tertiary institutions; Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education.
- NYSC members and graduates awaiting mobilisation.
Participants can apply individually or through their institution’s Tax Club, or students’ associations in economics, accounting, or journalism.
Entry Requirements
- Submissions may be in English, Pidgin, Hausa, Igbo, or Yoruba to ensure inclusivity and broad participation.
- Participants must create and publish original content (articles, videos, podcasts, radio pieces, or social media posts) related to Nigeria’s tax reform agenda.
- Entries in local languages must include an English translation.
- Videos and podcasts should not exceed 10 minutes.
- All submissions must be educative, engaging, and fact-based. Constructive critiques of the reform are encouraged.
- Eligible works must be published between July 1 and December 31, 2025.
Selection Process & Evaluation Criteria
Entries will be judged based on the following:
- Objectivity & Balance: The content must provide constructive insights, free of bias or propaganda.
- Technical Accuracy: Clear and correct explanation of the tax reform laws and principles.
- Public Engagement: Creativity, clarity, and ability to communicate effectively to a general audience.
- Impact & Reach: Evidence of engagement such as views, shares, comments, or media discussions generated.
