The University of Manchester Humanitarian Scholarship Programme provides support to individuals at immediate risk who have been forced to flee their homes due to armed conflict, offering them the opportunity to pursue their studies at the University of Manchester.
University of Manchester Humanitarian Scholarships – Benefits
The scholarship provides comprehensive support by covering full tuition fees for the chosen course, living expenses to support accommodation, food, and other essential needs, as well as visa-related costs.
Requirements for University of Manchester Humanitarian Scholarships
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria: be at serious risk due to war or armed conflict; have been forced to leave their home country or relocate internally within the last three years as a result of conflict; be unable to start or complete a university degree because of these circumstances; have no prior study experience in the UK or the EU; and have applied for an undergraduate programme at The University of Manchester commencing in September 2026. Applicants must also be able to clearly explain their motivation for choosing the course and demonstrate strong academic performance in previous studies. Please note that individuals currently residing in the UK or EU are not eligible to apply.
Proof of English language proficiency is not required at the point of application through UCAS or for the scholarship. However, successful candidates must meet the English language requirements stated in their offer letter. The University does not accept Duolingo English test results; accepted English tests and required scores are outlined on the University’s English language requirements and individual course profile pages. The scholarship does not cover pre-sessional English language courses.
Selection Process
No interview is required. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by email on or before 29 May 2026, regardless of the result. All decisions are final.
