History of College of Education and Legal Studies, Nguru, Yobe State.
College of Education and Legal Studies Nguru, formerly Atiku Abubakar College of Legal and Islamic Studies Nguru, was established in the year 2000. The law establishing the College (YBS Edict No. 6 of 1999, amended 2016 and 2020) gives the College mandate to offer course of study, training and (or) research leading to the award of Diploma and Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE). Currently, the College offers 20 NCE and 10 Diploma programmes in Sciences, Art and Social Sciences, Education, Law and Management Studies.
The College strives to create a dynamic, favourable and conducive atmosphere for teaching, learning and dissemination of knowledge, in order to produce intelligent and experienced students that are fit to face future challenges and contribute meaningfully to the development our dear nation. Consequently, the College is determined to produce the best students, by engaging the best teachers, guided by the best policy and aided by the best facilities.

Our energetic and dedicated staff discharge their responsibilities diligently giving students’ welfare the attention it deserves. The College library is stocked with current and relevant books to keep our student up-to-date in the pursuit of their academic excellence. College of Education and Legal Studies Nguru can best be described as the “Centre for Academic Excellence”.
