History of Ecwa College of Nursing & Midwifery Egbe

The School of Nursing, formerly known as Nurses Training School, was established by Dr. George F. Campion in 1955 with provisional approval by the Nursing Council of Nigeria to the Sudan Interior Mission (S.I.M.) to serve the needs of Egbe Hospital.

The School trained many Christian nurses between 1955-1974. In 1974, the Nursing Council suspended the nursing programme and approved the training of community nurses, later integrating midwifery in the curriculum.  In 1992, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria approved the re-establishment of the nursing programme.

Full accreditation was granted to the ECWA School of Nursing, Egbe in 2006. This was made possible through the support of the Kogi State Government and the efforts of the founding fathers, concerned individuals, and pioneer principal staffs.
