History of Merit College of Nursing Science
Merit College of Nursing Sciences (MCNS) in Orlu, Imo State, Nigeria, was established in 2021 as an expansion of the Women of Divine Destine Initiative (WODDI) facility. The transformation aimed to create a premier institution dedicated to producing exceptional, high-performing nurses and leaders committed to transforming healthcare and improving community well-being.
MCNS is affiliated with the Orlu United Medical Foundation and operates in partnership with the Orlu United Medical Center. The college boasts modern facilities, including a 650-seat auditorium, simulation labs, telemedicine-equipped classrooms, and on-campus hostel accommodations. It offers over 28 accredited nursing and midwifery courses, such as Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacology, Primary Health Care, and Evidence-Based Clinical Practice.
Since its inception, MCNS has achieved notable milestones, including a 100% pass rate in Nursing Council Examinations by its pioneer students. The college is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and provides both in-person and hybrid programs. Its mission is to empower nurses with the skills and knowledge necessary to deliver evidence-based, compassionate care.
