History of Shehu Sule College of Nursing & Midwifery, Damaturu

The college is located in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe state, along Gujba road opposite Yobe State Specialist Hospital. The institution was established as a School of Nursing in Oct 1993; It attained collegial status in 30th June 2011 under the administration of His Excellency Alhaji Ibrahim Geidam in-line with the current Nursing Education Reforms in Nigeria. Basic Midwifery programme was commenced in March 2015 and had graduated its first set of students in March 2018 while Community Midwifery commenced in March 2018 in an attempt to meet the gap in manpower in the state.

The college is now twenty four years; it has been graduating Nurses, Midwives and Community Midwives who are found working within and outside the country at large. It has so far graduated 21 set of Nurses, four set of Midwives and one set of Community Midwives.
