History of Sokoto State University

Sokoto State University, Sokoto (SSU). The University is a State owned conventional degree awarding institution that is dedicated to quality teaching, learning, research and community service. The Institution offers quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in a multiple of disciplines.

Sokoto State University was officially established in May 2009, but commenced academic activities in October, 2013 (i.e. 2013/2014) academic session with the registration of 800 pioneer students, spread over three Faculties: Social Sciences, Science, and Education.

The University has been given approval for the commencement of postgraduate programme which had already started.
