JAMB Confirms Technical Fault in 2025 UTME — Over 370,000 Candidates Affected

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially confirmed that a technical fault affected the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results. According to the board, the error occurred during the first three days of the exam and disrupted the accurate recording of candidate responses.

This announcement, made by JAMB earlier this week, has sparked concern among students and parents nationwide—especially those in the Lagos and South-East zones, where the impact was most severe.

JAMB revealed that the issue stemmed from a software update that wasn’t properly installed across all test centre servers. The technical service provider in charge failed to ensure that the update was deployed effectively. As a result, student responses weren’t recorded correctly before the marking process began.

A total of 157 centres were impacted, affecting 379,997 candidates across two major regions:

  • Lagos State: 65 centres | 206,610 candidates
  • South-East Zone: 92 centres | 173,387 candidates

This disruption meant many students received inaccurate scores or were unable to access their results altogether.

JAMB has confirmed that all affected candidates will receive updated information via:

  • SMS
  • Email
  • Direct phone calls

Candidates are advised to monitor their devices closely and reprint their slips as soon as they receive a notification.
