MasterCard Scholarship at MAK (Makerere University) 2024
The Mastercard Scholarship at Makerere University offers substantial benefits to its recipients, designed to ensure they can pursue their education without financial hardship and are equipped to become leaders in their communities.
Mastercard Foundation renewed its partnership with Makerere University for the second phase of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program spanning from 2023 to 2034.
The second phase of the Program will offer 1000 Scholarships for 10 years, for both Undergraduate and Master’s Academic Programmes at the Makerere University Main Campus.
Requirements:
- be qualified for admission at Makerere University’s main campus
- have completed the Advanced level education (or its equivalent) in an African Country (Undergraduate Applicants)
- have completed the Bachelor’s Degree Studies in an African Country (Masters Applicants)
- demonstrate leadership potential and a record of community service
- not be holders of any other Scholarship.
- not exceed 28 years of age at the time of applying for the Scholarship (Undergrdauates).
- not exceed 35 years of age at the time of applying for the Scholarship (Masters).
- Applicants under the categories of refugees and students with disabilities should not exceed 32 years of age (40 years for Masters) at the time of applying for the Scholarship.
- A refugee applicant must be a recognized and registered refugee with proof (refugee attestation) attached to the application form.

Required Documents
- Application Form
- Passport Photo
- A copy of your identity document
- A certified photocopy of the Undergraduate Degree certificate or transcript (Master’s)
- A certified photocopy of the A Level and O Level results
- A photocopy of the National Identification/Passport
- A motivation Statement for Master’s Studies (Max. 500 words)
- Hand drawn map with clear directions to the Applicant’s residence/home
How to Apply?
- First, apply for undergraduate or a graduate admission at the Makerere University
- Proceed to the Mastercard Scholarship page
- Select either of the undergraduate or postgraduate scholarships as applicable
- Read all the eligibility requirements and prepare the required documents
- Then, apply for Mastercard Undergraduate or Graduate Scholarships directly online using the application link
- You can also apply for the scholarship by downloading the undergraduate or postgraduate application forms as applicable
- Fill out the form and attach the required documents.
- After filling the form, hand deliver the hard copy form to the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University Offices located at Plot 144, Pool Road, Makerere University.
