Nigerian government is against Education- ASUU
The Academic Staff Union of Universities has complained bitterly about the Nigerian government nonchalance and how their behavior shows the rate at which they are against the development of education in Nigeria.
Speaking after a rally and congress at the University of Lagos, which was held to round off ASUU Lagos Zone mobilization which comprises of the University of Lagos, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Lagos State University, and the Tai Solarin University of Education. Dr Adelaja Odukoya, the Zonal Coordinator said they were tired of government’s empty promises and unresponsive behavior towards their appeals.
The lecturers however called on the Federal Government to sign and implement the renegotiated 2020 ASUU/FGN Agreement which was expected to be reviewed every three years.
In his words,
“This sensitization is, therefore, intended to bring to the general public’s knowledge the refusal of government to honor the agreement they freely entered into with our union in December 2020 before the strike was suspended.”
