Nigeria’s First lady, Remi Tinubu awards Scholarships worth N46million to University Students
Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu has granted a total of N46 million worth of scholarships to university students facing difficulties in paying their school fees.
Remi Tinubu is the wife of the current Nigeria President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. She granted the scholarship to the students at the Flag-off of the National Scholarship Programme Of Tertiary Education 2023.
The program is the subsidiary of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) founded by the first lady. She awarded Forty-six Nigerian students in tertiary institutions across the country.
The National Scholarship Programme of the Renewed Hope Initiative is a four-year scholarship program of One Million Naira per year and a laptop for each of the beneficiaries.
The Media aide to the first lady, Busola Kukoy said in a statement that the beneficiaries of the scholarship were chosen from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT. She added that the others were nominated by various women’s societies.
At the Flag-off ceremony, the First Lady congratulated the beneficiaries, stating that the award is part of efforts by the initiative to ensure that every student in the country gets the required education they deserve.
“With the National Scholarship Programme (NASP), we envision a Nigeria where every child, regardless of their circumstances, can access the best education available,” she said.
She added that education is not solely about textbooks and classrooms, but also about sparking curiosity, nurturing innovation, and cultivating a passion for learning that will have a lasting impact across generations.
The First Lady encouraged the recipients to prioritize their studies, emphasizing that their grade points would be monitored and must hold significance in the following years. Additionally, she urged them to pursue vocational skills.
