Providence Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship 2025

The Providence Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship supports Black and African students studying in English-speaking African countries. You can receive up to $250 per year, and the scholarship can be renewed for up to four years, with a total award of $1,000.

This award honours Providence Ebubechi Napoleon (née Okoye) and helps students who show strong academics, leadership, and a heart for service.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • You are Black or African.
  • You live in and study in an English-speaking African country.
  • You are accepted to or currently enrolled in an undergraduate programme at a recognised university.

Eligible countries include Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and others where English is the main language of instruction.

Benefits:

  • Up to $250 each year, renewable for four years.
  • A total award of $1,000.
  • Money for tuitionroom, or board (school fees, housing, or meals).

To continue receiving the scholarship each year, you must:

  • Keep good grades.
  • Show positive behaviour at university and in your community.
  • Send in an updated academic transcript and a short progress report every year.

Requirements:

  1. One recommendation letter
    • From a teacherprofessorcommunity leader, or church leader.
  2. Proof of enrolment
    • A document that confirms you are accepted to or currently studying in an undergraduate course.
  3. Academic transcript
    • Your most recent school or university report.
  4. Personal essay (500–750 words)
    • Answer this question: “How do you hope to create a legacy of compassion, faith, and dedication through your education, career, and personal life?”
  5. Resume or CV (optional)
    • A short list of your achievementsleadership experience, and community work.
