Senate Passes Bill to Establish Federal University of Transportation.
The Senate on Wednesday, April 6 has passed the bill for the establishment of the Federal University of Transportation in Daura, Katsina State. This decision came as a result of a report by the Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND at the plenary.
According to the Chairman of the Committee, Sen. Ahmad Babba Kaita (APC-Katsina), the establishment of the university would give Nigerians access to modern knowledge, emerging techniques, and skills in the transportation industry and will also generate employment opportunities for Nigerians.
Furthermore he said the university is expected to provide the needed manpower for the Nigerian transportation system i.e Nigerian Railway, with the aim to make it the first in West Africa.
