SSANU and NASU Applaud Ngige.
The joint action committee (JAC) comprising the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational Institutions (NASU), recently applauded the efforts of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige towards resolving the industrial action.
This appraisal came after a meeting they held with the minister and a representative from the ministry of Education. Reacting to this public approval, some Nigerians pointed out that the minister might be using the two unions to put pressure on ASUU. to call off the strike.
Reactions
Luke Karshak Thomas, a student of plateau state university (PLASU) said “ASUU are still
thinking of how they’re going to suspend their own, they don’t want to suspend it just like
that because FG will laugh at them… So they are looking for a style”.
Ibrahim Danladi Sule of BUK said “The Minister is using these two unions to deal with ASUU.”
Recall that ASUU has been in deadlock with FG over the adoption of UTAS a their preferred payment platform and also the non payment of their earned salary allowance for close to 2months now.
