UBA Foundation National Essay Competition 2025 for Senior Secondary School Students
The UBA Foundation has announced the launch of the 2025 edition of its annual National Essay Competition (NEC), a flagship program dedicated to fostering literacy, critical thinking, and cultural awareness among senior secondary school students in Nigeria and across Africa. Over the years, the competition has remained a powerful platform for young people to share their ideas, showcase their creativity, and make meaningful contributions to national development through writing.
Essay Theme
Nigeria is characterised by diverse cultures, ethnicities, and religions. How can young Nigerians deploy diversity to build a united nation?
Awards and Acknowledgment
The competition provides generous educational grants to the top three winners, supporting their pursuit of higher education at any university within Africa. The prize distribution is outlined as follows:
- Winner: ₦10,000,000 educational grant
- First Runner-up: ₦7,500,000 educational grant
- Second Runner-up: ₦5,000,000 educational grant
- Consolation Prizes: Additional rewards will be given to other exceptional participants in recognition of their efforts.
These awards are intended to encourage academic growth while recognizing outstanding creativity, critical thinking, and excellence in written expression.
Application Requirements
- To be eligible for participation, candidates are required to fulfill the following criteria:
- Must be a senior secondary school student in Nigeria
- Complete the official application form through the competition portal
- Submit a handwritten essay with a maximum of 750 words
- Upload a recent passport-sized photograph
- Provide a scanned copy of a valid identification document (Birth Certificate, National ID, or International Passport)
Please note that omission of the above listed documents document could lead to disqualification from the competition.
