UNILORIN Secures Full NUC Accreditation for 36 Academic Programmes
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has achieved a significant milestone, earning full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for 36 out of 37 academic programmes submitted for assessment. The only course granted interim accreditation was Hausa, with no programme denied approval.
This outcome followed the NUC’s rigorous accreditation exercise conducted in October and November 2024. The official report, dated April 30, 2025, was addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN.
Full accreditation signifies that a course meets all required benchmarks in teaching quality, academic staffing, learning facilities, and curriculum relevance. Interim accreditation, on the other hand, means a programme has met most—but not all—of these standards and requires some improvements.
For students and parents, full accreditation guarantees that degrees from these programmes are recognised for employment, further studies, and professional certifications.
