University of Kent Set to Award Tiwa Savage with a Honorary Degree
The Multiple award winning Nigerian Singer, Tiwa Savage, is set to receive an honorary doctorate degree from her alma mater, the University of Kent on July 15th in Canterbury, England.
According to the University, the honor is in recognition of her inspirational and international career. Tiwa Savage had studied Business Administration at the University of Kent before moving on to study music at the Berklee College of Music
In a statement by the university, Tiwa Savage “will be made Doctor of Music in recognition of her inspirational and international career in music.”
Other awardees at the event include:
Professor Dr. Funke Abimbola, MBE, a C-suite Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Leader, Healthcare executive, and Corporate Lawyer who will also be “made Doctor of Laws for her inspirational career as a senior solicitor and her extensive voluntary work as a mentor and campaigner” on the 14th of July in Cantebury
Kent alumnus and Emeritus Professor Abdulrazak Gurnah who will be conferred with a Doctor of Letters for his distinguished contribution to literature and his reflections and portrayal of the effects of colonialism, the theme of the refugee’s disruption, and the human experiences of a cross-continental journey.
