West Africa Oil and Gas Undergraduate Scholarship 2026
WESTAFRICAOIL, financed by leading oil and gas exploration companies across West Africa, invites applications from qualified candidates for the 2025/2026 West Africa Oil and Gas Development Undergraduate Scholarship Programme.
This scholarship initiative was established to provide students with access to a broad spectrum of academic expertise and the learning resources available at accredited institutions in Nigeria. Through this scheme, applicants are encouraged to apply via WESTAFRICAOIL to selected programmes offered by the approved partner institutions.
West Africa Oil and Gas Undergraduate Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship provides recipients with ₦250,000 annually as well as a laptop to support and enhance their academic performance.
Requirements for the West Africa Oil and Gas Undergraduate Scholarship
University Undergraduate Applicants must:
- Be Nigerian citizens.
- Be enrolled as full-time first- or second-year students at one of the approved Nigerian universities.
- Possess a valid University Matriculation Number (UME) or UTME Number, which must be verified through the VerifyID platform (verification charges apply) before submitting the application.
Selection Process
The selection process for the West Africa Oil and Gas Development Undergraduate Scholarship is open, transparent, and strictly merit-based. Only candidates who fully meet the eligibility criteria will be considered. All academic information submitted will undergo thorough verification, and only applicants whose details can be independently confirmed by their respective institutions will be shortlisted for the next stage. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview, during which a designated selection committee will carefully review their applications and overall suitability.
Applicants who successfully pass the initial screening stage will be required to participate in an interview session with the original copies of all submitted documents, along with any additional supporting materials. Candidates are therefore strongly advised to have all relevant documents prepared and readily available in anticipation of this stage.
Application Documents
Applicants are required to upload the following documents:
- A completed application form
- A recent passport photograph with a white background (taken within the last 3 months, 450px × 450px, and not exceeding 200KB)
- O’Level and UTME result slips
- University and JAMB admission letters
- Valid university student identification card
- Birth certificate issued by the National Population Commission
- Local Government Area (LGA) certificate of origin
- National Identification Number (NIN) slip
