The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) Zonal Coordinator of ASUP Zone D, Mr. Precious Nwakodo have announced that ASUP be embarking on an industrial action starting today, May 11, 2022, due to the failure of the federal government to yield to their demands.

He also pointed out that further directives on the planned strike would be announced soon by the National Executive Council of the union who will be meeting in Abuja today, May 11.

Recall that the union issued a one-month strike in the month of April 2022 to urge the federal government to address its outstanding issues such as; the non-release of the N15billion Revitalisation Fund approved over a year ago for the sector to address infrastructural deficit as contained in the 2014 Needs Assessment Report.

Mr. Nwakodo further urged the federal government to act to the yearnings of the academic staff to avoid the industrial action they set to embark on for the interest of students and parents.
