UNIMAID Disclaimer Notice on Resumption Date!

University of Maiduguri, Borno State has relaesed an official statement to counter the news circulating social media about its alleged resumption date. The statement which was signed by Prof. Danjuma Gambo, Director Radio and Public Relations for Vice Chancellor.

The notice reads:

“Our attention has been drawn to malicious rumours and fake news circulating on social media claiming that “academic activities are set to resume in the University of Maiduguri, UNIMAID, as the management has announced 4th August 2022 as the latest resumption date for fresh and returning students while registration will commence on 15th August, 2022.”

While students and parents eagerly await the resolution of issues between the university-based unions and the Federal Government, Management has never considered or made any attempt to reopen the university for resumption of academic activities, as claimed. In view of this, members of the public should discountenance the rumours and fake news because they represent the handiwork of mischief-makers who are desperately bent on raising the anxiety of our stakeholders by throwing up false and misleading information capable of causing confusion and tension in the country.

We wish to assure all our stakeholders, particularly staff, students, and parents, that Management is ever-ready to do the needful whenever the need to reopen the university arises.
