History of Nigerian Air Force College of Nursing Sciences (NAFCONS)

The Nigerian Air Force College of Nursing Sciences (NAFCONS) was established via establishment order 3/2016 under the Nigerian Air Force School of Medical Sciences and Aviation Medicine (NAFSMSAM), Kaduna. The need to establish the college of Nursing became imperative due to the expansion of existing NAF units and establishment of new Commands and units.

With this new development, the NAF existing nursing and other healthcare personnel manpower holding became grossly inadequate to cope. It is envisaged that the establishment of the College is expected to boost the manpower requirement for Nurses in the Nigerian Air Force and even beyond. The School was commissioned on 26 October 2019 by the then Chief of the Air staff, Air Marshal SB Abubakar.

Worthy of note is that NAFCONS is accredited by both the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and the National Board for Technical Education ((NBTE) for both professional and academic training for nurses. Academic activities for the first set of students resumed in October 2019.
