LASU VC Alerts the Public of Impersonators.
The Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, has released a statement warning the public of some criminals posing as her to scam unsuspecting members of the public in the pretense of giving them jobs or admission. The announcement was made through the Coordinator, Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations Mr. Ademola Adekoya.
The phone numbers registered in her name and used to trick members of the public are 07010826253 and 07083042572.
Mr. Ademola further said that the unscrupulous individual (s) also run several fake social media accounts, on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn bearing the name of the Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello and grow the pages by sending friend requests to other social media users.
To sight fake accounts, one can simply scroll to the bottom of the page’s posts to see when the first post on the page was made, any recently opened social media account in her name is fake!
Furthermore, the VC solicited for members of the public to assist in ensuring the social media accounts are blocked by reporting them to the relevant platforms and also ensure the phone numbers is reported as “Identity Thief ” on Truecaller so it can be blocked. To do this, take the following steps:
- Open Truecaller
- Enter Number 07010826253 and save as Identity Thief
- You can then View the details of the Number by searching or clicking on the icon given for that number.
- From here you will have the option to block and report.
You are then expected to “Block and Report” by clicking on the Block and Report icon.
The above steps should also be repeated for 07083042572.
