UBA Foundation Annual National Essay Competition 2026
The UBA Foundation National Essay Competition (NEC) 2026 is now open to senior secondary school students in Nigeria. Organised annually by the UBA Foundation as part of its education initiatives, the competition is designed to promote a strong reading culture and encourage intellectual engagement and healthy competition among secondary school students in Nigeria and across Africa.

UBA Foundation National Essay Competition Prizes
- 1st Prize: ₦15 million
- 2nd Prize: ₦10 million
- 3rd Prize: ₦7.5 million
- 4th Prize: ₦5 million
- 5th Prize: ₦3.5 million
Winners of the UBA Foundation Annual National Essay Competition will receive the following cash prizes.
Eligibility and Application Requirements for the UBA Foundation National Essay Competition
- Be a Nigerian senior secondary school student.
- Complete the official application form.
- Submit a handwritten essay of no more than 750 words. Typed submissions are not accepted.
- Upload a recent passport photograph.
- Provide a scanned copy of a valid identification document, such as a Birth Certificate, National ID, or International Passport.
Applicants must complete the application process and provide the all the listed required documents.
