History of Al-Qalam University, Katsina
The idea of establishing an Islamic University in Nigeria was conceived immediately after the commissioning ceremony of the Islamic University in Niger Republic established by the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). The Niamey Islamic University commenced studies in 1987 and that gave more impetus to the Nigerian Muslims to crave for a similar University in Nigeria.
Al-Qalam University, Katsina (formally Katsina University, Katsina) came into been in January 2005 consequent upon a license given by the National Universities Commission. A time-table drawn by the Academic advisory committee ensured the take-off of academic activities in October, 2005. The main distinguishing feature between the Al-Qalam University, Katsina and other conventional Universities was the conduct of moral and academic regulations.
That was expected to raise an educated, morally sound and Allah fearing society which is the pride of any community or nation. The University is design to specialize in Humanities and Sciences.
