Ogun Deputy Governor Escapes Attack During Students’ Protest in Abeokuta
Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, narrowly avoided an attack by student representatives during a protest in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Wednesday.
In a statement released to the press, it was revealed that the Deputy Governor was en route to the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, to represent Governor Dapo Abiodun at the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration when her convoy encountered the protesting students.

The protesters, identified as students from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), were reportedly armed with sticks and other dangerous objects.
“Despite several efforts to allow the convoy to pass, the students became more aggressive upon realizing the Deputy Governor was present. They attempted to immobilize her convoy. Efforts by her security team and police officers to calm the situation and facilitate movement were unsuccessful,” the statement said.
As a result, the Deputy Governor’s convoy decided to reroute to her lodge to avoid further escalation, allowing the protesters to proceed peacefully before she resumed her journey to the event.
The protest caused significant disruption to traffic, with several security vehicles damaged and injuries sustained by her security personnel while trying to maintain order.
