Government of Hungary Bilateral State Scholarships 2025
The Government of Hungary has announced the call for applications for the 2025 Hungary Bilateral State Scholarship.
The Government of Hungary Bilateral State Scholarship offers full scholarships that cover tuition, and provides a living stipend of €4680 for international students to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Hungarian higher institutions.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Be foreign citizens who hold a secondary school graduation certificate or a higher education degree.
- Meet the specific requirements of their chosen Hungarian institution, including a successful entrance exam.
- For doctoral applicants, possession of a master’s degree and admission to a doctoral school in Hungary are mandatory.
- Additionally, students applying for programs conducted in languages other than Hungarian are required to participate in Hungarian language and culture courses, fostering a deeper cultural integration and learning experience.
Benefits:
- Tuition Coverage: The scholarship covers the full tuition fee for studies at accredited Hungarian institutions.
- Comprehensive Support:
- For doctoral students: Monthly stipend of HUF 140,000 (approx. €390).
- For non-doctoral students: Monthly stipend of HUF 43,700 (approx. €120).
- Additional Support:
- Accommodation or an equivalent contribution to housing costs.
- Health insurance provided according to Hungarian regulations.
- Cultural Immersion: Scholarship holders studying in non-Hungarian languages must take Hungarian language and culture courses, enhancing cultural understanding.
Required Documents
- Application form of Tempus Public Foundation (downloadable from the online system).
- Valid passport or identity card
- Proof of language proficiency required for the programme (at least B2 knowledge, for
example, a language exam certificate, or a certificate issued by the sending institution,
foreign Hungarian Cultural Institute, lectorate or consul, written in Hungarian or English). - Copy of the highest degree/ certificate.
- Motivation letter
- Preliminary Acceptance Letter issued by the relevant head of department and
international office of a Hungarian higher education institution, dated, stamped and
signed on institutional letterhead with contact details.
