EFCC Apprehends BSU Student Over Chargeback Fraud
A political science student of the Benue state university has been apprehended by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly engaging in fraudulent activities.
According to news reports, the suspect identified as 27-year-old Nwamannah Chuks Ifeanyi, an indigene of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, was arrested on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Fruits Market, Wuse Zone II, Abuja, following an intelligence report.
According to the anti-graft agency, 41 ATM cards from different banks, bearing various names, were found on the suspect including a Toyota Venza car with Registration Number KUJ 300 MK, one PoS Machine, two Apple Laptop computers, six iPhones, one Nokia torchlight, one Apple wristwatch, and one Driver’s license.
Ifeanyi who is an agent for a soccer betting company, claims he uses the ATM cards for Chargeback; the fraudulent act of using an ATM card to withdraw money and afterward calling the bank to dispute the transaction and ask for a reversal.
