FUNAAB Ranks 2nd Best Performing Federal University in Employability

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has reaffirmed its dedication to academic excellence and industry relevance by being ranked the 2nd Best Performing Federal University in Nigeria in terms of Employability, according to the 2025 Nigeria University Rankings.

This prestigious recognition is based on the Industry Metric, which assessed vital employability indicators including employer reputation, income from industry-sponsored research, and availability of internship placements. The result highlights FUNAAB’s unwavering commitment to equipping its students with practical skills and real-world exposure—essential qualities for success in Nigeria’s competitive job market, where over a million graduates enter the labour force annually.

In response to the growing demand for employable graduates, FUNAAB has significantly deepened its engagement with top-tier industry partners, revised its curriculum to reflect employer feedback, expanded internship opportunities, and enhanced industry-driven research.

A major driver of this success has been the establishment of the Career Services and Linkages Unit (CSLU), a product of the University’s Benchmarking and Employability Committee. This initiative has played a pivotal role in strengthening the University’s employability profile.

This recent feat adds to FUNAAB’s growing list of accolades, which include being named the Best University of Agriculture in Africa and 7th globally in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024. The University also recently clinched the Number One position in Nigeria for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), among other notable achievements.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the staff, students, and the entire University community on this remarkable milestone. He called on all stakeholders to remain steadfast in their pursuit of excellence, as FUNAAB aims not only to maintain but to exceed its current standards.
