McPherson University Granted Higher Admission Quota for Nursing Programme

In a significant milestone for McPherson University, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has approved an increase in the admission quota for the university’s Nursing Science department. Following a formal application and a comprehensive resource verification conducted earlier this year, the council has raised the quota from 100 to 200 students.

Announcing the development during a recent staff devotion, Vice-Chancellor Professor Francis Igbasan described the approval as a major breakthrough, emphasizing that while the university had initially requested a quota of 250, the approved increase still marks a noteworthy leap forward. He noted that this decision not only reflects the university’s adherence to high academic standards but also positions McPherson University among the top institutions offering quality nursing education.

Looking ahead to the 2025/2026 academic session, Professor Igbasan revealed that the university aims to admit up to 2,000 students across all departments. He urged staff to prepare adequately for the expanded enrollment and announced that the admission process will officially commence next week.

As part of its strategic growth plans, the university is offering financial incentives to staff, students, and external agents who successfully recruit new students. This initiative is expected to boost admissions and foster a shared commitment to institutional growth.

Professor Igbasan also used the opportunity to encourage staff to embrace personal and professional development, reminding them that continuous learning and self-improvement are vital to the university’s mission of academic excellence.
