Opekete Foundation FBM Scholarship 2026

The Opekete Foundation, established in honor of the late Mrs. Florence Bamidele Makanjuola (1921–2021), continues to uphold her enduring legacy of empowering women through access to education and healthcare opportunities. Through the FBM Scholarship for Women, the foundation provides financial support to female students pursuing careers in nursing, teaching, and STEM fields, equipping them with the knowledge and resources needed to create meaningful impact within their communities and beyond.

The Opekete Foundation Scholarship provides financial support to eligible students through the following funding structure:

Secondary School Students:
Beneficiaries may receive funding of up to ₦350,000 annually to support their educational expenses. University Students:
Eligible undergraduate students may receive up to ₦650,000 per year to assist with tuition and other academic-related costs.

Opekete Foundation Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for the Opekete Foundation Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

General Eligibility Requirements

Prospective beneficiaries must:

  • Be a female Nigerian citizen
  • Have secured admission into, or currently be enrolled in, a public university or senior secondary school at the time of application
  • Be attending or intending to attend a public or federal government-owned secondary school or university
  • Be willing to pursue studies in Teaching, Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM), or Nursing at the university level

Academic Qualifications

Secondary School Applicants

Applicants applying at the secondary school level must possess:

  • A minimum of five distinctions (A or B grades) in English Language, Mathematics, and at least three other core subjects in the Junior WAEC examination.

University Applicants

Applicants seeking the scholarship at the university level must meet the following academic requirements:

  • Obtain a minimum of five distinctions (A1–B3) in English Language, Mathematics, and at least three other relevant subjects in WAEC or NECO, achieved in a single sitting.
  • Meet the approved JAMB cut-off mark for their chosen course of study and institution.
