NUC Partners to Develop AI Ecosystem in Universities
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has partnered with Daimlas Corporation, a global AI leader, to establish a robust AI ecosystem across Nigerian universities. This collaboration aims to provide academic institutions with advanced AI resources, research opportunities, and a structured platform for AI-driven education.
At the MoU signing in Abuja for the NUC AI Centre of Excellence, NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, emphasized the Commission’s commitment to the project’s success, stating that it would serve as a crucial gauge for integrating AI into the academic landscape.
Joseph Wehbe, CEO of Daimlas Corporation, highlighted that AI is reshaping society and academia globally. He explained that their platform connects universities with AI research centers, entrepreneurs, and businesses, facilitating participation in the AI economy. The initiative offers tailored pathways for institutions and individuals, whether setting up AI programs, labs, or securing AI-related internships.
Daimlas currently operates AI ecosystems in the U.S. and Saudi Arabia and plans to integrate Nigerian universities into this global AI network. Wehbe stressed the importance of preparing graduates for AI-driven job markets, as traditional entry-level roles are increasingly automated. The partnership seeks to equip Nigerian students and institutions with the necessary skills and opportunities to thrive in the AI-driven future.
