ASUU strike: UNIJOS orders students to vacate campus

Following the nationwide Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)warning strike , the Management of the University of Jos has ordered students of the institution to vacate the campus till further notice.

The University Management gave this order on Thursday 17th Febraury 2022, in a statement signed by the Universities’s Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications, Abdullahi Abdullahi.

According to him, the University took the decision after the Senate approved the suspension of academic activities due to the strike.

The statement read, “Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Tanko Ishaya, has, on behalf of Senate of the University, approved the suspension of Academic activities in the institution for the 2020/2021 Academic Session until further notice.

“In light of the fact that there would be no lectures or similar activities taking place during the period of the warning strike, Management decided that it would be best to have the students vacate the school premises until the strike is called off and academic activities resume fully.
