Stay Away from Campus Activities- ASUU Warns AAU Lecturers.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ambrose Ali University (AAU), Ekpoma, chapter has warned her members not to attend the scheduled HOD’S meeting, in a recently released memo by the chairperson in person of Dr. Cyril Oziegbe Onogbosele.
The memo which is titled “DO NOT ATTEND THE MEETING OF HODs WITH THE UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT” was sent out as a reminder for her staff members to remain resilient and not participate in any form of academic activities due to the ongoing ASUU strike.
The memo reads thus:
“Comrades,
I thank you for your cooperation with the Union in respect of the ongoing national strike. HODs and other office-holders who are members of the Union SHOULD NOT attend the meeting with the University Management today or any other day during the ongoing strike.
All members of the Union should abide by the resolutions and directives of the Union on any matter. Members who have been invited to the Management meeting as HODs should understand that they were employed as academics not as HODs. As academics, they belong to a legal trade union concerned with the welfare and wellbeing of members.
Therefore, HODs who are members of the union should not cooperate with oppressors and selfish individuals in positions of authority sabotaging the Union’s strike/struggle meant to rescue its members from the shackles of intimidation, humiliation, oppression, suppression and the deprivation of their rights and wellbeing.
In addition, all members of the Union (including HODs) should STAY AWAY from the University’s campus and not participate or be involved in the conduct of any examination ( including CBCA) during the ongoing strike. Also, do not be deceived or distracted by interpretation of the University Law and Regulation upside down by mischief-makers and saboteurs. It is a sign of desperation on the part of the oppressors of workers in the University.
All meetings and the CBCA are being monitored by the Union.”
