Sule Lamido University Resumes Amidst ASUU Strike

The management of Sule Lamido University in Jigawa state has ordered its lecturers who joined the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike to resume immediately.

This follows the report on Monday, August 29, 2022, that the ASUU has extended its six-month-old strike indefinitely.

Recall that the ongoing ASUU strike started on February 14 and has been on for months now as the union insisted on not calling off the lingering strike until the arrears are settled.

The management of Sule Lamido University in a circular released yesterday 29 August 2022 by the school’s Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Adamu Muhammad directed all lecturers on strike to resume immediately.

The circular reads thus; “Sequel to the 30th Emergency Meeting of Council held today Monday 29th August, 2002. I am directed to request all those on strike to suspend the ongoing strike and return to work immediately.

“All heads of Department are, by this notice, directed to take register of staff who return to work today Monday, 29th August, to 5 September, 2022.”

The Registrar of the University, Mr. Ife Oluwole, in a statement said stakeholders in the university, met to review the situation extensively and resolve it in the interest of students, their parents, and the survival of the university, it has become necessary for all members of staff currently on strike at the university to resume normal activities.
