On Tuesday 10th February 2022, at the NUC headquarters in Abuja, the governor’s senior special assistant on new media, Mr. Jubril Gawat, said the clearance certificate was presented by the executive secretary of NUC, Abubakar Rasheed and that operations may start this 2022.

The special adviser to Governor Sanwo-Olu on education, Tokunbo Wahab, who was present during the event said the good thing about the approval of the license is that fresh students may resume into the university for the 2022/2023 academic session, and he also assured the public that all hands will be on deck to ensure the smooth transmutation of both the institutions and the staffs.

In his words; “Between February and May when UTME registration and examination will commence, I strongly believe that a lot of things would have been put in place because we want students to be admitted this year.”
Mr. Wahab ended his speech by congratulating the governor on his efforts and initiative in moving Lagos State forward and investing in higher institution.

The governor expressed his excitement about the new development, noting that this certificate makes “Lagos State University of Education the 56th State university and 204th university in Nigeria, as well as the second university of education in Nigeria while Lagos State University of Science and Technology is now 57th state university and 205th university in Nigeria.”

Gov. Sanwo-Olu in his message also praised NUC for granting the operational certificates, and said the creation of the two universities by his administration is not about being ambitious but by doing what is best for the future of our generations to come and that the two additional universities will assist in meeting the demands and needs of teeming young Nigerians.
