KASU Set to Resume Amid Strike

The Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University (KASU), Professor Abdullahi Ashafa, on Friday, July 8 has disclosed that the university will reopen today, being, July 13, 2022, for the continuation of academic activities.

Prof. Ashafa emphasized that the decision is to enable its final year students to write their examinations and graduate, while he appealed to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to be understanding for the sake of students.

He also pointed out that the state government has decided to provide foreign scholarships to students with outstanding Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), and upon graduation, they would be sent abroad for their master’s degrees to two African universities where the Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board had already signed a Memorandum of Understanding with.

The Vice-chancellor further revealed that the admission processes into the foreign schools would be closed in September and KASU students have not written their second-semester examination because of the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
